Attracting New Kids to Club
Many clubs get most of their growth from simple word of mouth—excited kids sharing their excitement with friends. Sometimes kids are intimidated about asking their friends, so they’ll need your help.
- Suggest club members wear their Pioneer Clubs T-shirts to school (and Sunday school if your church allows casual attire). Other kids will be curious and ask them about club.
- Give club members Pioneer Clubs stickers or bookmarks to pass out to friends.
- Planning a meeting specially tailored to visitors is a great way to attract kids to club and makes it easier for kids to invite friends. Check out the Bring a Friend meeting.
- When visitors come to club, help them feel welcome. Assign a “buddy” to each visitor to explain activities done in club. (Role-play “buddy duties” ahead of time so club members know what to do.) Encourage all club members to welcome newcomers and include them in activities.
- Get visitors' names, addresses, phone numbers and the parents’ email addresses so you can follow up with them. Children who have a good time and feel your genuine interest in them are more likely to come again.
- Give each visitor a club information packet to take home. Include:
- welcome letter to the child
- note to parents explaining the Pioneer Clubs program
- schedule of upcoming events
- address of your church website
